Let's put it this way, if you as a family with children have 40,000 euros to spend after tax (which is very common in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium etc.), you're not going to look for a brand new electric car that costs you an annual+ income, but a used one for say 8-18k depending how new you want your car to be. It does need to be sizeable also to go on holiday with the kids and to take them to hobbies etc. Currently your only option then is a used ICE. Life is expensive in this part of the world.
