Peter Kerr has already stated in writing that the sea wall has been engineered in such a way that failure will not happen again. Additionally the re-vamped sea wall has a 1.2 metre thick moisture barrier system set to 50 metres below sea level.
Addittionaly over 100 movement sensors have been placed around the mine. It is these movement sensors that alerted Peter Kerr of movement in the eastern end of main pit before the recent rock fall so Peter Kerr was able to ensure that no personel or equipment were in the error, thus mitigating any delay to the mine plan. Peter Kerr stated the easten end will be mined in March as already planned.
Contrary to belief . . . Peter Kerr did not stop shipping to allow landing craft to arrive with equipment to fix the rock fall. The only landing craft to arrive since the rockfall has been a weekend pleasure craft. Shipping has continued without delay
