For starters, it's the banning of new ICE vehicles. ICE vehicles will still be on the roads for the next 30+ years.

"I wouldn't dare to buy one cause there won't be a market for them anymore in a year or two if you want to resell it."

Of course there will be a market for them. Resale will be just fine.

Germany already reneging on the whole 'ban on new ICE vehicles'. Smart move.

"Anyone to assume the Australian market tells you global trends is naive."

Of course Australia is always last. Australia's government is also up there with the slowest to implement and upgrade infrastructure. Then we have Energy Queensland's proposal to allow energy companies to take control of home chargers and switch them off in peak periods for grid stability, which if that was passed I can see other states following suite.

Also Australia is one of the largest continents in the world. Pair that with snails pace upgrading infrastructure, along with our climate/terrain (for those in the outback or rural), plus EV's currently aren't suitable for most Aussie lifestyles - simply a bad recipe for the Country until the technology of EV's drastically improves along with infrastructure (chargers and an upgraded grid to support them).

This goes hand in hand with electricity excise from the Governments I can see happening in the not-so-distant future, which will make even the savings from charging versus refuelling negligible, IMO.

When you have the QLD Government wanting to enforce an aircon cap during hot days for fear of large-scale blackouts (2017), that's when you know we won't be able to handle a country full of EV's when we can't even run our aircons.

With regard to Norway, they have 4 times less registered vehicles than in Australia and is about 5% the size of Australia... There is no way, at this stage, Australia could or should (and won't, IMO) follow suite.
