Yardeni Research backs up what you say. Their chart shows EPS has been declining for 9 quarters in a row. Yes nine! Yet each of those quarters, more companies have given revenue surprises than not. In my book, earnings (the bottom line) is what counts most. Thus, revenue beats are meaningless indicators.
