As far as I know Re LNC - they have been doing UCG since 1999 and have had no incidents. That is what the company says and I cannot find anything to the contrary - if you have some documentation please let me know.

CXY and CNX are both new boys and have had NO UCG experience in the real world, but CNX will tell you they have great "models".

I agree, the government will play it safe but I would have thought that a company that can demonstrate safety over long periods of operation (all be it at a "pilot" scale) would get some traction if it means (large) tax revenue. But I could be wrong and it all comes down to public opinion and votes at the end of the day!
