Step 1) Look for suitable takeover targets. Take a long term perspective.
Step 2) Sell some of your own lithium carbonate / spodumene below fair value.
Step 3) See lithium prices drop (although EV demand is skyrocketing).
Step 4) Feed the media with disinfo about supply / demand that suits your purpose.
Step 5) Engange some investment banks to accumulate shares.
Step 6) Watch as their algorithms cap the share price at a level you find nice and cozy (below fair value)... while short interest is rising.
Step 7) Engage some 'financial media experts' to troll retail investors with bullsh*t posts on Australia's most popular investment forum (HotCopper) esp. with regard to shorters maybe being right, disinfo regarding supply/demand, risks, uncertainty, dropping sp, etc.
Step 8) Make some lame low-ball offers to take over the target company to find out with what kind of idiots (sharesholders, management) you are dealing with.
Step 9) Manipulate the share price even more. Cap it for several days straight at 2.75$.
Step 10) Convince the world that your 3$ offer (for an asset that will be worth multiples of that in a few years) is in the best interest of those idiots mentioned above. Let them forget that there are 107m shorted shares outstanding and that the last time the share price peaked to 3.17$ it was a day when shorts were reduced by 'only' ~10-20m.
Step 11) Hope you are not getting outplayed by your takeover target's management.
