1200 workers on site to bring the plant and mine online in Q2 calandar 2024 - remains on time, and on budget.
Would have been good to include some pictures of that in this ann really.
In retrospect seems a strange decision to come out of suspension this morning with none of the gov negotiations concluded. I guess they were getting such mixed messages from gov on the details and/or timeline they gave up waiting and/or making sense of it. Hopefully the dickhead currently in charge of mining gets the arse when the new government is elected next year. Mining companies in country should organise a peak body to act as a lobby group to ensure it happens IMHO.
Hopefully post election next year the gov relationship settles down. From their import tax grab it seems like the interim gov literally ran out of cash and just grabbbed some from us. I think as someone noted above, it might be good for this to now be a majority GF owned project - they can bring substantial weight to bear with future and current Chinese gov grants and such to Mali.
Should be an interesting conference call this morning.
