Interesting! the percentage of shares sold that were actually short dropped dramatically on Thursday.
346,098/6,353,856 = 0.05%
however 6m is almost triple the average volume ie 2m and the stock's price only dropped 0.04%
That would indicate to me one or two of three things or all three.
1. an insto is getting out
OR
2. a lot of retail investors have seen the drop in price, bought the drug story, have started panicking and have thrown in the towel.
So basically panicked holders are now doing the work of shorters.
BUT
3. because the price didn't drop so much, that bargain hunters - either retail investors or instos have started to move in
Any other possible scenarios?
thing is there are no short figures for Friday and the price dropped 1.5% on average volume, similar to the drop on NASDAQ the night before.
And RMD fell another 1.6% on the NASDAQ last night on slightly raised volume. But is up about up 1.5% in the after market so we may just stick around the $23.45 mark on Monday.
