I believe that where interim analysis have been called in other trials has resulted in at least half those trials being halted.Further to that in other cases it has lead to the wrong conclusion being formed and then when the final results have been declared the conclusions had to be changed.As for expediting the trials well it hasn't done much considering the trial was expected to be completed by 1 May, 4 months ago
