re: Ann: Quarterly Activities Report and Crai... Response from ASIC with names removed. As I expected, this was a 'glitch'. Pretty major numbers of stock in this glitch. I hope no one was basing investment decisions on this quite bogus information.

Thanks for your email in relation to the short positions in the shares of Western Areas NL ("WSA") as of 20 July 2010.

Our current findings indicate that there was a system glitch at the time when a short seller lodged its data with ASIC and that the short position in WSA related to the short seller, which was fairly substantial, was not included in the 20 July report.

We are currently gathering more information in relation to the instance and aim to avoid similar scenarios from happening in future.
