There's no real logic to it but sentiment affects investors' decisions markedly. It's the same with gold in particular. No-one can possibly know what the price of gold will be in six months or even six weeks so to drop a successful gold explorer's SP even though they are two or three years from production makes no logical sense at all and yet if the gold price goes down that's what happens all the time. The market runs on sentiment driven by fear and greed and if a commodity price drops fear rises. If every shareholder was a long term investor, like many of the posters here, I guess we wouldn't see the phenomenon to anywhere near the same extent but obviously most trades that take place on any given day involve short term traders, plus bot-driven trades of course.
