Real traders -

Number one son works (part time) in a forex (options futures - I think) trading room at one of the banks. He says there has to be lots of noise. He likens conditions to a 21st century sweat shop with rows of computer screens, desks and telephones instead of benches and sewing machines.

He says that there are always people shouting and alarms going off. His section even has a trumpet and he spent the first month trying to figure out what the trumpet was signalling.

People work 12 and 14 hour days regularly and start at 5.30 a.m on Mondays a more relaxed 6.30 other week days.

He loves every minute of it.
