I've linked another essay below that voices concerns about the inability of EU to move at pace (technologically/industrially) with the rest of the world. It is so sad to watch EU scrambling to position themselves competitively against China and US.
EU has been 'spinning their tyres' whilst virtue signalling about their great transition plans, however they are not moving anywhere, still standing still whilst the competitors are clearly moving past them.
The Czech/EU bureaucracy is mortally crippling any economic aspirations that they may have towards exploiting Cinovec deposit.
"Prime Minister Petr Fiala's (ODS) naive vision that the Czech Republic could become one of the most prosperous countries in the world thanks to lithium mining in Cínovec has fundamental cracks. While the Czechs are waiting for roast pigeons to fall directly into their mouths and are not going anywhere, governments in other countries are actively negotiating the construction of gigafactories for the production of batteries for electric cars and large-capacity energy storage.
Geomet plans the period of mining in Cínovec for 27 years. The lithium reserves themselves are in the locality at the currently planned volume of mining for about 300 years. As geomet geologist Tomáš Vrbicky mentioned in an interview for Seznam Zprávy , regarding the volume of mining in the Czech Republic: " We assume roughly 25,000 tons per year. It should be roughly 400 to 800 thousand cars "."
If EU are intending to take even more time to finalise CRMA/Green Deal that very much can make the Czech lithium dream to become 'out of date'. That CRMA legislation can't get here quick enough. I sure hope they have something in store because this is getting ridiculous now.
