Yes, subsequent to my discussion with 007 last night where he stated that companies use algos to move large amounts of shares in small volumes so as not to move the market too much against them, and I pointed out that this is a kind of market manipulation in itself, and he agreed that it is a grey area. If, as he says they can and do do that, then it should be quite easy to design an algorithm that can have a positive or negative effect on the share price as well, depending on your needs and morality.
