Do you mean the algo that is doing a small sell at the end of some of the buys to keep the price down?

Sometimes see that when someone wants the Vwap low for a CR etc (not the case now), or to fatigue holders into selling. Normally see a reload of the lowest sell order when it gets low, or maybe the second lowest sell order if they arent willing to sacrifice the shares. They can disappear as soon as they arrive if that what is programmed.

Can also be used when someone asks a brokerage to accumulate at as low a price as they can. You buy more and sell a few to keep the price down. See the bit about holder fatigue.

Algos use to be only in the domain of larger brokerage firm. But now there are a few online brokerage companies that allow retail to dabble in it. Fun stuff, but make sure you get your maths right : )

Not sure what chart software you have. But you should have some way of seeing the hour, day, week month or year as buy for price increase vs sell for price decrease. This gives a better picture of whats happening. Daily/weekly Vwap also gives a clue. Although the end result is that an algo can sell a share in the closing auction to lower the price, even when the whole day has been in the green. How awesome is that? They can also sell enough in the opening auction to drop the price on open. Just playing with people's emotions.

Hence why keeping an eye on the market cap vs where you think fair value is, rather the ticker, is a way to make better decisions.
