Phylogica investor presentations setout the industry payment structure for drug discovery deals. If the announcement confirms the details already leaked in the Emily Morgan story, the drug deal between Phylogica and Medimmune will be BIG.
According to the March 2010 presentation, Milestone Payments within the pharmaceutical industry range between US$1m - US$100m. Emily Morgan from the WA Business News informs readers that the milestone payments for the latest Phylogica deal will be US$98m i.e. right at the upper limit of the industry scale. If confirmed, this is extremely exciting and will provide shareholders with some idea of the premium Phylogica has been able to extract in its most recent partnership negotiations. Big Pharma is prepared to pay up.
The line up of Big Pharma to negotiate deals also adds to the buzz about the interest which Phylogica has been able to generate in relation to its phylomer libraries and search engines.
