I've read what you said - then, I note the bulk of the replies after - which concentrate on their favourite media fixations

no one mentioned your actual problem - which was

    ''Hubris.

    Fixating on inconsequential matters.

A majority has to be on the team for a country to grow and prosper.

That wont happen whilst there are 5th columnists entrenched across the media landscape.

    Dex''

odd how people just lob into blaming media and avoid what was the real problem ------

A majority has to be on the team for a country to grow and prosper.

you can have all the media one likes - yet if the populace isn't thinking collectively - it's doing it's individual thing - then, nothing can save it.

In Australia - the entire place is set up for individualism - the political setup from day one; and aside from some small remote or rural cooperation between neighbours - basically everyone is only interested in themselves.

So where it all went wrong is that Oz couldn't ever be a nation and that set up a culture, which was off to a bad start anyway by being a penal colony - remember, people came here for committing crime - regardless of if they had to do that crime to survive - in the best of cases, that would mean that they were inside a society where they had to take something from others to survive

that means it's inside the character, the nature. That means that you have the wrong beginning. Then you go an add on the utter stupidity of having different colonies in a small continent - then you turn them into states and then you have the stunningly brilliant idea to make them into a federation of states - all with their separate powers -

the proof of the pudding was that they couldn't even work together to get the same railway lines in every state, nor could they even agree on where the capital of the new nation would be - so, they gave up arguing and dumped it in a sheep paddock in a 'territory'

and the culture of separation continued to grow. Oz was never a nation and never had the ingredients for a nation - only ever a bunch of states trying to fly in rough formation

is there a way to change it all? ----------------- yeah. But it's gonna hurt.
