Key points:

$6bn for grants and investment to fund the network
private sector based
ACCC to oversee competition and set prices
97 per cent of homes covered
satellite coverage for the remaining 3 per cent
speeds of between 12Mbps and 100Mbps
$2.75b for an open access backhaul:

up to $750m for" fixed broadband optimisation" (improving copper network and wireless services in metropolitan areas).
$1bn for rural regional wireless networks
$1bn for metropolitan wireless networks

My point is if coalition win, SSM will still benefit from some additional from the above. This is on top of the turn around that the company has implemented in terms of rationalisation, new CEO with good track record and a good improvement in profit guidance leading hopefully to a resuming of a dividend payment I'm thinking FY2011-12.

For a potential shareholder it's deciding how much impact will the election results have. I'm happy to hold either way as I believe the return is still attractive over the next 18 months, by buying at these levels there is not too much risk.....
