The Australian government can pursue an agenda related to Aboriginal people on the advice of people such as Mayo without The Voice. Under current arrangements, who speaks to the PM is decided by the PM himself. Under the proposed arrangement, it will be representatives of Aboriginal people, rather than self or government appointed spokesman like Mayo who are advising the government.
