There are plenty of affordable homes, they just aren't in Sydney where people feel they HAVE to live.
Newcastle has plenty of properties for sale that are very affordable. Travel to Armidale, bonus cheap and clean air. 4 bedroom house for $550k - not a bad deal compared to $1.2m for a 2brd run down in Outer Far Western Sydney.
We do not have a housing shortage - we have a SYDNEY housing shortage. The rest of Australia still exists.
