not out of the woods yet

It's been great to see positive news coming out but IMO, Cougar is going to need the ban lifted and allowed to resume operations at Kingaroy before anyone will provide further funding to Cougar.

Metro or any other UCG company will not touch Cougar's operation at Kingaroy and if its forced to close down permanently and rehabilitate the site, there is a few million dollars involved in that. I doubt Cougar would have this in the bank and if they did, there is very little chance of anyone investing in Cougar to undertake another trial, even in Inner Mongolia.

Len's not going to rock the boat at the moment. Irrespective of whether or not DERM or the entire QLD government is to blame Cougar needs DERM more then DERM needs Cougar.

Given the politcal climate atm and the fact the Greens have agreed to give its preferences to Labor and the federal election will be one or lost in Queensland, Cougar may get the bullet purely from a political point, the government will claim its environmental issues over Cougars UCG and Cougar wont have a leg to stand on.

The fact that DERM has screwed things up will save LNC and CNX, but not CXY.

Hope I'm wrong, but the politcal aspect of these comments has come from a contact in a closely aligned department in the QLD government.
