They love to virtue signal, and actually seem to enjoy the reaction they get from their conservative friends. They know we won't stoop to their level and use as hominem attacks, so they feel free to scream their heads off

I think more than usual this is the case of a loud minority and a quiet majority. Everyone I speak to is voting NO, however I have to actually push them and tell them that I am a NO supporter so that they do not have to fear reprisal for their decision. Still, they're often quite nervous and jittery about admitting it, as a result of the evil and manipulative tactics of the extreme left. Definitely alludes to Nazism, and the way in which people feared criticising their regime (yet many did behind closed doors)
