The Issue with MGs is not the elec motors or the battery; its the other components common with the ICE models.
I see the ICE models regularly at my local garage and there's a host of early failures . Its fine to have extend warranty on the main components of the powertrain but there'd more to a car than the powertrain.
While some of MG woes are addressed initially by the extend powertrain warranty and/or being EV;items such as electronics failure and Rusting are common to the EVs, IMO.
MG Cons Gearbox and Transmission issues: Some MG models have experienced problems with the gearbox and transmission, leading to issues such as slow gearchanges and stuck gears. Head Gasket failure: Head gasket failures have been reported in certain MG models, causing coolant depletion and overheating.Premature Rusting: Some MG cars, especially the 2019 MG Hector and MG S, have been prone to premature rusting issues. ABS Warning Light failure: MG ZS models have had intermittent ABS warning light issues, potentially indicating problems with the antilock braking system. Oil Leaking issues: Oil leaks have been reported in various MG models, often stemming from gasket covers, pressure hoses, filters, or plugs. (source: CoCalc)
IMO, these extended powertrain warranties are code for product development while you own the car instead of the R&D been done prior to the model's release and not at your expense while the car is off the road.
