There's more to this than meets the eye.
NVIDIA and Qualcomm have already poured billions of dollars to develop their offering for Edge AI and the orders are also in the billions.
Do you think these companies will shoot themselves in the foot by suddenly recognizing and legitimizing neuromorphic computing as the future by taking over Brainchip, let alone even mentioning Brainchip in any way. Imagine if they did, their whole pipeline of CPU/GPU research, merchandise and orders will be threatened. Would companies continue their orders knowing that neuromorphic computing will be more future proof? This is why these big tech companies remain completely silent regarding neuromorphic edge AI...they can't deny it either because they are actually subtly moving towards it themselves...just look at some of the language used..."neural network" is the common theme in all their description.
The other big techs are in similar situation. Apple and Tesla have already verbally boasted their "edge AI" solution; Microsoft, Google and Amazon are too heavily weighted towards the cloud. Only Intel openly recognize neuromorphic computing as the future because it has Loihi as a potential offering but again have not released Loihi as a commercial product because it will kill its main revenue stream i.e, its CPU platforms.
Have people forgotten Brainchip's 2023 Embeddy Award?...so Akida is recognized by the academics but yet by industry because big techs have more to loose than gain by recognizing Akida at this stage.
The only big tech that has all to gain in recognizing neuromorphic computing as the future is ARM and hence its close working relationship with Brainchip and its recent US IPO to also become a fabless chip company...basically it's an assault on the chip industry by running with neuromorphic edge AI, whilst the others are still figuring out what the hell to do to fill this void. The ARM train will indeed run very fast since its architecture is already in over 70% of devices. This will be an interesting scenario...companies already using NVIDIA or Qualcomm with underlying ARM's architecture could then decide to swap to the ARM's chip with Akida. If ARM loose the contract to NVIDIA or Qualcomm but gains in getting the chip contract with end-user companies because they see a future in neuromorphic computing then ARM has nothing to loose and actually more to gain. I think you earn more in getting the chip contract directly than the architecture IP contract only from NVIDIA or Qualcomm...I stand to be corrected.
So, I don't think there will be any takeover of Brainchip because it will be suicidal in different ways for each of the big techs...Brainchip has almost checkmate these big techs in an unprecedented way. ARM will be the closest to taking over Brainchip but now when I think about it, it is better for ARM to be independent because it can also partner with other neuromorphic IP in the future, unless another big tech decides its time to bite the bullet and run with neuromorphic computing.
This is why Brainchip is indeed disruptive and this is why its strategy is to remain as silent as possible regarding any engagement or development. Was there any previous mention of VVDN developing an Edge AI box with Brainchip? Was there any mention of EDGX developing an edge AI platform with Brainchip for space travel and satellites? God knows how many "secret" development with Akida are out there...there are definitely a lot of tech nerds in the world that is itching to be famous!
This is my take on the current situation with Brainchip. That's why for me the SP is what it is...what's important is that Akida as an Edge AI IP is not faltering technically and in fact improving and gaining more grounds from its competitors.
