Arrived in Ubud yesterday and last night in the darkness I fell down this hole which was right near a well known restaurant. It left a big gash and started spurting blood as horrified diners looked on. Fortunately the waiters came out with napkins as makeshift bandages then a women in a supermarket dressed my wound in the supermarket. Went to hospital this morning where they redressed it and gave me a strong painkiller. Fortunately can still walk but the nurse says it happens to everyone including herself when the streets flood and you can’t see them…the hole, 1 of 3 within 10 meters..BEWARE DODGY FOOTPATHS AT NIGHT!
