MIRABELA Nickel says output is improving despite a slower than expected production increase at its flagship operation in Brazil and it expects production at the bottom end of guidance.
The miner yesterday unveiled a $19.28 million loss for the six months to June 30, compared to a $10.77 million profit in the equivalent period in 2009. Mirabela, dual-listed in Canada and Australia, began commercial production at its flagship Santa Rita operation in Brazil in the first half of 2010, which it said made comparable figures from last year difficult to match up. It said full-year production was tracking at 10,500 tonnes of nickel in concentrate, just within earlier guidance of 10,500-12,500 tonnes.
