Well I would strongly argue that Hamas do not represent the Palestinian people. Hamas are not the Palestinian people. Israel is not resisting the determination for a Palestinian state, rather the defence against terrorist factions within the Palestinian population. Have you heard of the term "Iron wall" ( No not the Iron dome)
The idea that Jewish military strength would make the Arabs despair of the struggle against them and come to terms with a Jewish state.. where intense nationalism like Hamas would fail and moderate parties arrive ready for negations of peace. Arafat was close - but he had too many skeletons in his closet!
I detest that fact you think Israel sit around and ponder how many civilians they can displace or bomb today. Do you actually believe that the Gazan fence was erected because they felt like it? The PLO and Israel agreed via the OSLO 2 agreement the complete self govern of Gaza and west bank on the premise a security fence is erected due to ongoing terrorist attacks against its civilians. I'll repeat, AGREED and SIGNED. Egypt had a big play in this, essentially separating the town of rafah and creating the rafah border crossing and still to this day completely control it.
I think we all can agree with you on this however.
They can live in peace, they have done so in the past. Respect is a two way street and if the Palestinians are to ever become truly free - Terroristic notions of jihad and martyrdom need to be eradicated and a governing body that actually represents the Palestinian people need to be established. Hamas is not that. It will never be that.
