How a share currently outside the 300 gets selected to 'jump' into the 200 first up?escapes me but that could be standard and poor methodology.
However re your 'research' about the effect of Inclusion in the Index-
wouldn't it be VOLUME Increase not so much price rise that would 'confirm' Institutional; Involvement because of the ranking?
You know,Funds scrambling to get their quota,increasing Demand so then having a price effect?
Besides it'd depend a lot on Market Conditions during your research period to get some accurate data BUT if Institutions DO BUY just because of new Index status?then..well,it'd be VOLUME not SP that would be a more valid indicator.
