On a new topic to fill-in this ANP news vacuum with some less vitriolic conversation, I noticed in my wide reading that Sarepta have a licensing agreement set up in 2013 with the Uni of West Aust using the UWA exon-skipping IP and giving the UWA a low single digit royalty (after a $7.1 mill payment) on net sales of their exon-skipping suite (51, 53, 45). Not sure what net sales is exactly (net of cost of goods, I imagine, but before sales and admin costs).

Steve Wilton and Sue Fletcher were the UWA brains trust behind that IP, but have since moved to Murdoch Uni I think. Sue was appointed Chief Scientific Officer at PYC in 2020.

This is all probably old news to a lot of members, but I wondered if our WA/Perth connection (Itsa, Sam - though he’s gone for now) have any connection or can elaborate on the story.

It’s always a bit of a moral dilemma that the inventors don’t own the IP they develop, but it’s 100% owned by the employer.
