I have appreciated the comments on coal and WHC on the HC site-they have generally shown knowledge and insights of relevance to investors.
However, on the contrary, the comments on here show why the Referendum was lost. The subject of the referendum was First Nations people (who happen to be of black coloured skin). The only racism is by many "No" voters who apparently equated the referendum with black v white.
It was the Coalition Government who together with all State Governments signed the Partnership Agreement in 2019 with First Nations people on "Closing the Gap."
Dutton only 3 years later has effectively ignored that Agreement for his own selfish political purposes and delberately misled the Australian people and 60% of people have been successfully fooled by him.
The outcome will be money will continue to be wasted on attempted solutions to First Nation issues without Governments benefiting from input of First Nations peoples and without those people taking ownership of the problems and being held accountable if their suggested solutions fail. A lose-lose situation.
Incidentally, Australia remains in breach of the "United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples" and is decades behind countries such as New Zealand, Canada and Finland in recognising the rights of First Nations people.
It would help the understanding of those who voted "no" if they read up on the Stolen Generation and the massacres of First Nations people that took place. As a result they might obtain some empathy of First Nation peoples plight. Forget what you learnt at school that Dirk Hartog (or whatever) discovered Austrailia in 1606!
