Its old @yourhero111 but a good article on short sale reporting on Australia - there is not a lot of good advice/information out there and that you pay for would be crap too from experience:

There are lags and delays in reporting of short positions (particularly from overseas) and contrary to what you read on many forums, the figures are unlikely ever precise because of that and prone to occasional error as even ASIC will admit. The figures posted on late last week, on trading 1 to 4 days prior, may have indeed had an anomaly by the looks of it vs trading volumes. Trends are reliable however and after a small build before you can see quite a removal of short positions in recent weeks following the latest earnings:
