winner1day: I don’t want to offend you, but I think your views on the Voice are naive in the extreme. You seem to see great merit in the proposal although there is zero evidence that the Voice would have had any beneficial effect for those Indigenous people who most need help. And you downplay or ignore the major risks inherent in the Voice proposal, which have been well set out and demonstrated by many of its opponents.

In any event, the Voice is now a dead argument, thanks to the good sense of the Australian people in the decision they took at the weekend. At long last, the nasty division of the past 18 months can hopefully be put behind us (as both Albanese and Dutton have said, in somewhat different terms, in recent days). I’ll bet you now, however, that the Langton/Pearson/Davis/Mayo clique won’t be able to hide their disdain for the weekend’s decision and their hatred for those who had the gall to oppose the poisonous Voice. Worst of all, in their eyes, will be the genuine leaders in the Indigenous community (people such as Jacinta Price, Warren Mundine, Kerrynne Liddle, Anthony Dillon and others) who had the courage of their convictions and dared to speak out against the views of the Langton/Davis mob. Witness Pearson’s vile comments a few months ago targeting Jacinta Price and Mick Gooda. He then had the gall to preach to us about kindness and generosity!
