I've looked this up only briefly but I think people can still work out your identity if I used for instance [email protected]. Not sure how they do it but apparently it can be done. You can create an encrypted email account with an anonymity-focused provider but I think the receiver has to be on the same service. I guess this is how the crooks do it. I know I'm going way overboard on this but I just got freaked out the very first time I reached out to someone on this forum who I thought I knew.
