    Most of those points are completely valid

    but..

    Fibre optic cable is pretty tough, even when outdoors. The external sheath is even tougher and cut cables can be fixed with fusion splices

    degrading performance i dont think is an issue either, you may be able to fix that with stronger light source

    fibre cables could easily last 100 years or more

    he may be a network architect, but he is no physicist who has studied and used fibre optic cables like myself

    BTW I dont support the NBN

    Most people who benefit the high download speeds are surfing porn and doing illegal downloads. They also dont want their access filtered

    So once it is in they will soon discover it was a really expensive, bad idea
