    Bobzaboy, I hold TLS and I can sympathize with your point of view. I also don't want the Greens to dictate our future direction, which will certainly be the case.

    But keeping only the welfare of TLS shareholders in mind, the revenue that TLS earns from the PSTN is plunging further every year - as clearly indicated by the last financial report.

    And the expectation is that it will fall further and at a accelerating rate as people are rapidly withdrawing from fixed lines because wireless technologies now deliver faster speed.

    Now the Labor Govt planned to pay well for that degrading copper asset in order to get their hands on the existing ducts.

    Together with the $6 billion in reserve, TLS will:

    (a) Have a war chest of $17 billion for acquisitions;

    (b) Be rid of a degrading asset;

    (c) Have the NBN available to run its services on - built without risking shareholders funds

    So TLS should get rid of this ailing asset and pocket a bonanza to build products and services of the future that will provide a far better ROI than a degrading copper network that they appear loath to even spend money on properly maintaining!
