    All this is open to speculation, because the company isn't getting into the detail. Note the "possiblys" in this comment.

    If the degree of resistance that induced in a cell is related to how long you apply a voltage to it, then feasibly, you could reduce the write time, yet return a lower resistance (or remove the resistance by reversing the polarity) As long as when it comes time to read a 1 or 0 off the cell, you have consistent resistance values, you could keep dialling back the "write/wipe" time. Then it's possibly a matter of how sensitive the "ohmmeter" that reads the cells is.

    So i think it's possibly not so much that they have made a bunch of different "recipes" within the lot, it's more about playing around with how the control layer is writing/wiping and reading the cells.

    I think someone mentioned this is also how the cells are tuneable - it's not so much a matter of fabrication, it's more a matter of how long you hit a cell with a voltage - so if you hit it with a longer write signal, the persistence increases.
