Well might you love being Australian as I do but love hasn't much to do with it....its more about industrial development.
Now lets look a the rising stars in industrial development post WW2: -German manufacturing......built with Marshall Plan money dished out to what was left of German manufacturing by an industry led German Government.
Japan: A Japanese Government that put everything into restoring Japanese Manufacturing
S/Korea: Again an industry led Government that formed the Mega Korean manufacturers . that remain today
And China ...(Don't mention China as Basil Faulty could have said....) China commands almost 40% of global manufacturing and trade because of its Governments assistance to manufacturing (to compare/contrast, just look at India 1980 - 2020 !!!)
IMO the age of neo-Liberalism is dead and gone (low taxes-small Government & minimal Government interference in the so called "Free Market" so rather than rely on a defunct ideology , we simply have to copy others and add improvements. A consumer economy over time simply doesn't work ; there has to be producers of wealth and IMO, because of our abundant natural resources, downstream manufacturing/adding Aussie value is the obvious go...IMO.
