The Greens proposal of a carbon levy for climate action is to follow Garnaut's recommendations, welcomed by economists, unions, environmentalists and businesses. The Labor plan rewarded big polluters and was described by the Gratton Institute think tank as "a $20 billion waste of money".
CFU technology is not the only low emission technology on the horizon. The problem with giving non renewables a leg up is that it disadvantages renewable technologies, which are the preferred way to go for the future. Legislative changes through a carbon levy will discourage the use of highly polluting coal and encourage the use of low emission tech. like gas fired power stations and CFU's Bluegen. This is why I'm actually keener on picking up more WPL, but I probably will take up the CFU rights.
