Another thing that may save us is the work of Peter Costello. It is my humble opinion that history will view him as the greatest treasurer this country has ever had.....not because he was brilliant but because he did things differently to the rest of the western world at that time. In fact the simple wisdom Costello applied is LITERALLY as old os the pyramids themselves. I guess treasurer Pete must have been listening to his brother Tim's sermons when he preached on the story of Joseph and the Pharaoh. When we had our seven years of plenty Costello went about the business of retiring our debt.....in contrast to other world governments who were relying on future growth.
Funnily enough Armstrong himself, in his early work, points the biblical account of Joseph and the Pharaoh and presents it as evidence that the business cycle has always existed. I am by no means a church goer nor to I believe that the bible is an absolute but I do believe this : Sometimes it is wise to take note of the ancient wisdom.
Prudent Peter may one be identified as the man who saved us from the financial apocalyse. I think he should be our first president:)
