Not sure it's worth the cost or bother to market a condisoil product post Th removal. I assume disposing as scheduled waste would be more feasible.
Still unsure about the thorium though. There's approximately 20,000 tons Th contained in the circa 1million tons of WLP currently stored on site. Ongoing production will produce approximately 600t Th p/a at current production rates, but this will increase moving forward.
Understand the aim is to sell the Th, but there currently doesn't appear to be a commercial market and doesn't look like that's going to change over the next few years. What happens if Lynas can't sell the thorium?
Maybe the company will provide more details in due course.
