MLX could very comfortably buy back 10% of outstanding shares every 6 months without causing APAC to bust the "creep rule". But let's be conservative and do a 10% buyback over a 12-month period. That would be about 90mn over 250 trading days, or 360k share per day. Sounds borderline do-able given current market liquidity. I'd be happy with a 5% p.a. buy back. (1) It sends the right signal to shareholders and investing public, (2) buying 180k shares a day @ VWAP will not upset available market liquidity, (3) leaves MLX with plenty of cash left over to continue investing in the future (Rentails, resource upgrades, mining tech, ...).
