there was a very useful article in Carbon Brief that debunked 21 myths regarding EVs a couple of days ago

if someone can find it and post the link it would be useful to share

one of the myths was around the time taken to pay back the carbon intensity of manufacturing with it only taking 18,000 kms or about 2 years.

As we know the grid is becoming cleaner every day with South Australia just having a week of near 100% net renewable power, so the fuel source is becoming cleaner every day. 1/3 of households have solar so their fuel can be cheap and green.

The world is changing and hopefully Australia will not have to send almost $40 billion offshore to pay for dinosaur juice when we can have abundant clean energy here in the future

out of interest this week we saw the first deliveries of BYD Dolphin cars that are the cheapest EV in Australia coming in under $39K before incentives such as the Qld government $6K grant. so a $33K EV!

The Qld government also announced a massive investment in 2,500 more chargers this week as it plans to stop buying non EVs for its governments fleets from 2026.
