After Hamas won an election (not a battle), embarked on a 1 year ceasefire (well reported at the time) and openly promoted 2 state negotiations.
As has happened many times before, as soon as peace and a 2 state existence is discussed, Israel starts attacking and causing trouble. All reported around 2006.
