"Im not a tradesperson so I work in an office all day. Unless you are a tradesperson there is not a lot that can be done DIY."
Actually that really depends on how good you are doing the manual jobs. I also work in an office all day, but I have found that doing jobs such as tiling, plumbing, even installing kitchens are all possible and you can do a good job. All you have to do is start small and go from there and it is surprising how much you can do and how well you can do it. It doesn't take that long to become relatively proficient either.
