    as I see it, its not about this particular individual but about poorly designed legislation and the rights accorded to people who become Aussie citizens.

    if an immigrant becomes a citizen, its not just the individual who must comply with the laws, but the responsibility of the state to which must comply with obligations to its citizens.

    each one of us is at risk of doing something that might result in a lawful charge (at some point in our lives). the state accepts responsibility for our management. the same should apply to immigrant citizens. cancelling a citizens' right is an abrogation of state responsibility.

    its an important principle.
