(1) It was the Coalition's policies that shut down the dairy industry (via deregulation) in Katter's electorate and drove many farmers to suicide.
(2) His relationship with the Nats is as poisonous as the relationship between Tony Windsor and Barnaby Joyce.
(3) Remember that these ex-Nats are holding notionally NATIONAL PARTY seats! Seats which the Nat Party intends to get back. So the independents should expect the most destabilisation to their future FROM the National Party - NOT from Labor.
Anyway, I hope I'm wrong but there's not much of a chance.
