I agree with you Hatmopit. I would suggest a small change in your otherwise astute input and i would say that the word cement should be changed to concrete to be accurate, as that is what SUV have produced as cement is the binder used to make concrete. I would agree with you that price would be a factor here. I'm not sure of the cost of making a metakaolin geopolymer, but i am happy to concede that it is likely more expensive (at this point) than concrete made from Ordinary Portland Cement. In saying that, traditional concrete isn't that cheap any more, costing around $400/M3 to $500/M3, depending on volumes and where the concrete is being poured. I've heard for remote sites out the back of Kalgoorlie gets as high as $1500/M3 to $2000/M3 !!!!!
I also agree when the tariffs for high carbon products (such as OPC) start being applied, this figure will head significantly north even further.
Perhaps the question of price is answered in the Announcement?
Banksy's blurb says he was particularly interested in the next round of results, where they mix the metakaolin with waste by products to make Geoploymer concrete. Could this be because it might reduce the cost by swapping out Metakaolin from the waste by product?
There must be a reason for wanting to trial Metakaolin Geopolymer with waste by products for free or minimal cost. This would surely reduce the cost of production, (using less of the higher value kaolin in that particular mix) as well as dispose of the waste by product?
I can forsee there will be lots of recipes like in a cake shop if you like; orange cake, lemon cake, chocolate cake, battenburg cake and specialty made to order recipes.
If we can crack this, we have the IP, we have the product on both seaboards and we have a labour government pushing the green agenda, then we will have the benefit from making lots of cash.
The times are achanging and getting interesting.
