Not surprising.......a Schlumberger wireline unit doesn't quite work like an iPhone.
When I started in the patch I was sitting in CSU trucks equipped with what was a process control based computer system writing data to tapes. One of my jobs at the end of the well was to lug the massive tape back to town.
Next to come was the first Maxis trucks. The first Maxis units were huge artic trailers equipped with three microvax computers. Even the printer had it's own microvax computer.
About that time The Platform Express tools started appearing..they were a step ahead of the old tools. The first rotary sidewall coring tools also appeared. No more CSTs which made my job a bit easier. The biggest game changer was the MDT tool...miles ahead of the old RFT.
Then came the newer units equipped with PCs running windows. New tools have been appearing at the same time.
Field Engineers will soon be a thing of the past with a move towards an Engineer running jobs remotely from the other side of the world and the unit being manned only by an operator and a winchman.
