There are SMSF platform providers that allow you a lot more flexibility to invest in what you want - options, overseas-listed shares etc - than the big Super funds like Australian Super, and also do most of the accounting and legal stuff involved in running an SMSF - auditing, tax returns etc etc. Fees may be a bit higher, but worth it if you'd like the extra flexibility.
