Yes absolutely, but it's a bit far out. Investors will want to see profitable returns short term on these projects before upping the ante.
Fortescue's Pilbara operations (Iron Ore) are already kicking goals. It's the decarb side of things that now needs the focus short term imv. But yes certainly green steel further out.
What caught my attention a while back was that Fortescue were gearing up for significant additional investments in the Pilbara for additional green energy infrastructure, but they haven’t taken FID on those yet. Refer to the last paragraph on page 5 below.
